MesojectGun is a professional, needle-free skin-infusion device. TOSKANI describes it as combining controlled electrical pulses with superficial work at the stratum corneum to help selected topical products move across the skin barrier. It is not an injectable treatment, and it is not the same procedure as microneedling.
That distinction matters. Electroporation is a real and extensively studied delivery principle, but the amount of a specific ingredient that crosses the skin depends on the pulse parameters, electrode design, formulation and skin model. General electroporation research therefore explains the mechanism; it does not prove every outcome advertised for one commercial device.
The short answer
MesojectGun may fit a treatment plan when the goal is a professional topical-infusion session without needle punctures. At Lumini Medical Spa, the provider selects the protocol after examining the skin, reviewing medical history and confirming that the proposed topical product and device settings are appropriate. The treatment should not be presented as a substitute for microneedling, an injection or a laser, because those procedures act through different mechanisms and at different tissue levels.
How the device is designed to work
The outermost layer of the epidermis, the stratum corneum, is an effective barrier. Most topical ingredients do not simply pass through it in large or predictable amounts. Electroporation uses short electrical pulses to temporarily alter barrier permeability. Laboratory and translational studies show that transport varies with electrical dose, electrode geometry and the physical and chemical properties of the compound being delivered.
TOSKANI calls its electrical-pulse system Pulse Booster®. The manufacturer also describes a Micro Skin Fusion component that performs superficial abrasion while distributing the electrical stimulus. Those are device-specific descriptions from TOSKANI. Independent studies of skin electroporation support the underlying delivery concept, but we did not identify a peer-reviewed trial that independently validates the MesojectGun marketing figures for firmness, sebum reduction or results after a fixed number of sessions.
MesojectGun is not microneedling

The fact that both treatments may be discussed for texture, hydration or overall skin quality does not make them interchangeable. The correct procedure depends on the target, skin condition, downtime tolerance and medical history.
MesojectGun is not an injection
The handpiece does not place filler, toxin, PRP or another injectable product beneath the skin. “Needle-free mesotherapy” can be confusing language because traditional mesotherapy involves multiple injections. For accuracy, Lumini describes MesojectGun as needle-free transdermal skin infusion.
This also means that an infused topical cannot be assumed to behave like the same ingredient delivered by injection. Route, concentration, depth and bioavailability are different. A product used on the skin should never be described as an injectable equivalent.
What a consultation should decide
Before treatment, the provider should identify a specific goal rather than promise a generic “glow.” The assessment may include:
- whether the skin is intact, inflamed, infected or recently treated;
- sensitivity, barrier disruption, active acne or dermatitis;
- implanted electronic devices and relevant neurologic or cardiac history;
- recent procedures and current prescription or topical products;
- the formulation proposed for the session; and
- whether a different treatment would better match the concern.
Electrical procedures require additional screening. A patient with a pacemaker or another implanted electronic device, active infection or open skin in the treatment area should not proceed without appropriate medical clearance. Pregnancy, seizure history and significant medical conditions must be disclosed so the clinical team can determine whether treatment should be deferred.
What the session may feel like
The experience varies with the treatment area, contact and settings. A patient may notice pressure, vibration, warmth or tingling. “Needle-free” does not justify promising that every session is painless. Temporary redness, sensitivity, dryness or irritation can occur, particularly when the barrier is already reactive or the selected topical is not well tolerated.
Because the procedure does not use needles, it generally avoids needle puncture and the pinpoint bleeding associated with microneedling. It still involves active work on the skin surface, so “no wound” or “zero downtime” is too absolute. The provider should explain what is realistic for the exact protocol.
Aftercare
Follow the instructions issued for the products and settings used during the visit. A conservative plan commonly includes gentle cleansing, avoiding unnecessary friction or exfoliation, using the recommended moisturizer and protecting the skin from ultraviolet exposure. Heat, sauna, intense exercise, strong acids, retinoids and other potentially irritating products may need to be paused for the period specified by the provider.
Contact Lumini promptly for unexpected blistering, persistent swelling, severe pain, spreading redness, drainage, hives or another reaction that is more than mild and short-lived.
How many sessions are needed?
There is no defensible universal number. A hydration-focused add-on and a multi-session plan for a persistent concern are different uses. Baseline skin condition, topical formulation, settings, interval and home care all affect the plan. The provider should define the target and reassess the response rather than promise a result after one session or sell a fixed series without review.

Does MesojectGun use needles?
No. The MesojectGun handpiece is designed for needle-free transdermal delivery. It does not inject filler, neurotoxin, PRP or another injectable product.
Is MesojectGun the same as microneedling?
No. Microneedling uses sterile needles to create controlled micro-injuries. MesojectGun uses electrical pulses and superficial skin preparation described by its manufacturer to support topical delivery.
What does electroporation mean?
Electroporation uses brief electrical pulses to temporarily change skin-barrier permeability. The effect depends on the electrical parameters, electrode design, formulation and skin being treated.
Is MesojectGun FDA-approved?
Lumini does not describe MesojectGun as an FDA-approved medical treatment. The manufacturer markets it as a professional cosmetic transdermal-delivery device. That is different from an FDA approval for a drug or an injectable indication.
Is there downtime?
There is no needle-puncture recovery, but temporary redness, sensitivity, dryness or irritation can occur. Downtime depends on the skin, settings and topical formulation, so “zero downtime” should not be guaranteed.
Can it treat acne, pigmentation or hair loss?
Those concerns require diagnosis and a treatment plan. TOSKANI markets protocols for several cosmetic goals, but general electroporation evidence does not prove that this device treats a specific disease. Lumini first determines whether topical infusion is appropriate or whether another treatment is better supported.
Can MesojectGun be added to a facial?
It can be scheduled as a facial add-on when the provider confirms that the facial steps, skin condition and selected topical protocol are compatible. It is also available as a standalone service.
