How is Fotona 4D different from microneedling or RF treatments?
Microneedling uses fine needles to create controlled micro-injury, and radiofrequency devices deliver heat by different means — some needle-based, some cannula-based, some noninvasive. Fotona 4D uses laser light only, with nothing that punctures the skin, to heat collagen at depth. Its opening SmoothLiftin step places the handpiece inside the mouth, but even then the laser works without breaking the skin.
Is the treatment uncomfortable?
Most people tolerate it well; the sensation is warmth as the laser works. We’ll talk through what to expect and keep you comfortable during the session.
Is there any real downtime?
Little to none. Because it’s non-ablative to minimally ablative, most people have brief redness and warmth that settle quickly, with no real recovery time to plan around.
