Liquid rhinoplasty in Aventura: correcting the nose without surgery using hyaluronic acid

Liquid rhinoplasty —also called “non-surgical rhinoplasty”— uses injectable hyaluronic acid to refine the shape of the nose in a single visit, with no general anesthesia and no prolonged recovery time. Here we explain what it corrects, how safe it is, and why the person holding the syringe matters as much as the product.

Liquid rhinoplasty is a non-surgical aesthetic procedure in which hyaluronic acid (the same type of filler used in the lips and cheeks) is placed at strategic points of the nose to change how its contour looks. It does not reduce the size of the nose or correct breathing problems; it works on appearance, not function. Systematic reviews of the literature describe short procedure times, minimal recovery, and high patient satisfaction when the indication is right.¹

It is important to understand a counterintuitive point: adding volume can make a nose look straighter and more harmonious. By filling the area above or below a small hump, the profile looks more continuous, even though technically nothing has been removed.

At your consultation we evaluate your profile, the strength and position of the tip, and your overall symmetry. Then micro-amounts of hyaluronic acid are placed in deep planes and along the midline, where the vascular anatomy is most predictable. Results are immediate: you see the change in the moment, and we can adjust as we go. Common cases that benefit:

• Smoothing a mild to moderate dorsal hump
• Slightly lifting or projecting a drooping tip
• Balancing small asymmetries
• Refining the result of a previous surgical rhinoplasty, without going back to the operating room (this has been documented in large patient series)²

The available evidence is consistent on two things: liquid rhinoplasty with hyaluronic acid works well for selected cases, and safety depends on technique. A systematic review by Kumar and colleagues concluded that hyaluronic acid is an effective, minimally invasive option for nasal reshaping, with good aesthetic results.¹ A later systematic review focused specifically on complications and patient-reported outcomes found high satisfaction, but underscored that there are rare vascular risks that demand anatomical expertise.²

The most feared complication —although rare— is vascular occlusion: if the material enters a vessel, it can compromise the skin or, in exceptional cases, vision. A 2025 narrative review of the complications of non-surgical rhinoplasty insists that prevention rests on knowledge of the anatomy and on injection technique, not on luck.³ That is why it is a medical procedure, not just another “spa treatment.” A detailed anatomical review of the arteries of the face explains why certain planes and entry points are far safer than others.⁴

One of the great advantages of hyaluronic acid is that it is reversible. If you do not like the result, or at any sign of a complication, there is an antidote: hyaluronidase, an enzyme that dissolves the filler. A scoping review on the use of hyaluronidase in aesthetics confirms that it is the central tool for managing complications and for correcting hyaluronic filler results.⁵ The fact that a treatment is reversible does not mean it is trivial: it means it should be administered by someone who also knows how to reverse it and who has the protocol and the supplies ready.

As for duration, the results of liquid rhinoplasty usually last several months and, in the nose, sometimes longer than in other areas, because there is little muscle movement. Over time, the body reabsorbs the hyaluronic acid naturally.

Liquid rhinoplasty is excellent for some patients and not the best option for others. Anyone looking to reduce the size of the nose, correct a significant deviation, or resolve a breathing problem probably needs a surgical evaluation, not filler. And not all noses have the same vascular anatomy. Does liquid rhinoplasty hurt? Most patients tolerate it very well; topical anesthetic is used, and many products already include an anesthetic. It is a procedure done with a syringe, not a scalpel.

How long does the result last? Several months, and in the nose often longer than in other areas because of the limited movement. The body reabsorbs the hyaluronic acid gradually.

Is it reversible? Yes. Hyaluronidase can dissolve the hyaluronic acid if you are not satisfied or in the event of any complication, one of its great advantages over surgery.⁵

Is it safe? In hands with medical training and anatomical knowledge, serious complications are rare. The main risk —vascular occlusion— is prevented with technique, not with luck.³ ⁴ That is why who performs it matters so much.

Can it fix the result of previous nose surgery? In many cases, yes; corrections of post-surgical irregularities with hyaluronic acid have been documented in large patient series.² We determine this at your consultation.
